The IRS has issued long-expected proposed regulations that will dramatically reduce the ability to apply valuation discounts to intra-family transfers of interest in entities including corporations, partnerships, or LLCs. In large part, these regulations could significantly restrict, or even eliminate, lack of control discounts in valuing interests in entities and could impact marketability discounts as well.
